The Blind Welfare Society is committed to improving the quality of life for visually impaired individuals. One of our key initiatives is the Free Groceries Distribution Project, aimed at ensuring that visually impaired people, particularly those from low-income backgrounds, have access to essential food supplies. This project has been a lifeline, especially during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic, where many visually impaired individuals lost their income sources.
Objective: To provide essential grocery kits to visually impaired individuals and families in need, ensuring they do not face food insecurity.
Beneficiaries: Over 1000 visually impaired individuals and families across Delhi.
Contents of Grocery Kits: The kits include staple foods such as rice, flour, pulses, oil, sugar and other essential items to last several weeks.
"The Blind Welfare Society has been a great support for me and my family. During the lockdown, we had no source of income, and the groceries provided by BWS ensured that we did not go hungry. We are truly grateful for their help."
Rajesh Kumar, Delhi
“Receiving free groceries from BWS was a blessing. As a visually impaired person who used to sing at bus stops for a living, the lockdown left me with no income. BWS's initiative helped me and many others survive these tough times. Thank you for your generosity."
Amit Verma, Delhi
"The support from BWS has been incredible. Not only did they provide us with essential groceries, but they also showed us that we are not alone. Their continuous support has made a huge difference in our lives."
